Seventy-two

I am a fan of the candy cane, the original, plain old red and white peppermint kind. None of those cherry flavored, muted rainbow-colored imitations of the real thing. Or God forbid the wacky starburst, Spongebob, crazy colored whatevers. (Really I’ll eat any of them, but I like the traditional.) I was in a goofy kind of mood, enjoying a refreshing candy cane. Part had broke off and this is what I did with it; instant minty mustache.

“Since I don’t smoke, I decided to grow a mustache – it is better for the health.   However, I always carried a jewel-studded cigarette case in which, instead of tobacco, were carefully placed several mustaches, Adolphe Menjou style. I offered them politely to my friends: “Mustache? Mustache? Mustache?”   Nobody dared to touch them. This was my test regarding the sacred aspect of mustaches.” ~Salvador Dalí

A couple of days before this shot we had been watching one of our favorite food shows, Unwrapped. They were showing a place that makes hand-made gingerbread houses. On the top of each house they put two small candy canes in the shape of a heart. I thought that was really neat. So I grabbed two big candy canes off of our tree, placed them on my chest and took some shots. Not the best quality photo, but it’s cute.
